Love Without Boundaries

What does it mean to you to love someone without boundaries?  I’ve pondered the last week about what it means to love without boundaries.  To me, it means to give someone my all, to not hold out on them, to pour every resource I have on them, when they are in need or even when they are not, emotional (listening), physical (hug, offering my belongings or resources to help them), financial ($$$), to really jump in and love someone for who they are, heart and soul.  Regardless of their quirks, their shortcomings, despite the differences…true, genuine, put a hurtin’ on em’ L-O-V-E!  I’ve often heard people describe their love for others in their lives like this…”I love them but“, “I’ll love him or her if“, “Maybe I’ll love them” – Now before I get to far into this and start getting emails about every scenario under the sun allow me to clarify a few things.  The l-o-v-e that I am speaking of is the biblical kind.  The kind that I sort of touched on in The High Road post.  The “Love thy neighbor as thyself” kind of love.  So please go with me on this, k?

How might we as christians begin to l-o-v-e without boundaries?

Reaching Out- Some might ask, who’s my neighbor?  Your neighbor isn’t just the person that lives next door.  Your neighbor is your family members (immediate and extended), your friends (near and far away) and let’s not forgot our “earthly” neighbors!  Just because there is a huge body of water or large amount of land that separates us from other states or countries doesn’t mean they aren’t our neighbors.  We, as members of the Body of Christ ARE His annointed hands and feet on this earth and we ARE to minister to those in NEED around us.  Extending ourselves, literally next door, down the road, into the next city, the next state, the countries that border us and AROUND THE WORLD.  It is up to us to reach out to our neighbors for the cause of Christ and l-o-v-e God’s people, these neighbors are His children too, without boundaries!

Matthew 25:40 Jesus said “I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.”

So how reach out?-  GIVE!!!!! Give, give, give!  Give of your time.  Volunteer your time to your local shelters.  Do it as a family and get your children involved.  What better way to teach your children a lesson about giving to others than for them to see firsthand the lives of those that are less fortunate.  Donate, donate, donate!  Donate items from your household.  Clothing, furniture, decorative items, baby items and food.  These things can be given to folks who are rebuilding their lives after natural disasters such as earthquakes, hurricanes, tornados, etc.  Tithes & Offerings!  Tithe to your local church.  Malachi 3:10 “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house.  Test me in this,” says the LORD Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.” The LORD himself tells us to tithe of what he has blessed us with and he will bless us in return.  Let’s not be stingy with what he has given us!  The local churches, if they are bible believing and teaching churches will be doing their parts as well to give back to the communities and help those in need.  How about other countries?  How do I help those people?  Well I’m glad you asked!  Ask your church if they support overseas missionaries, thats a start!  If you want to personally start helping overseas by sending funds, allow me to suggest Gospel for Asia.  You can locate them on the web at they are one of my favorite mission based charities and 100% of the funds goes straight to the mission field!  The founder K.P. Yohannon wrote a wonderful and compelling book Revolution In World Missions – It WILL change your heart and outlook on missions forever and I encourage all of my blog friends to contact GFA and have them send you a copy, the book is free and they will send you 5 copies for FREE!  Might I suggest as a way of getting the word out on how to reach around the world and help those in need, that if you support a charity that benefits those overseas, please comment on this post.  Leave the charity information in your comment and hopefully others will “copy cat” and follow along and want to help our neighbors in need around the world.

What seems so little is really BIG to some- Bless a new mother with a meal.  Take an elderly person a potted plant.  Go greet a new neighbor and take a long a basket of cookies!  Smile at a stranger!  Offer to babysit for a couple who needs a night out.  Pray for our President and our country!  Take a sack of groceries to a family whose breadwinner is out of work.  Write a letter to one of our military personnel.

Love YOU!- Last but not least don’t forget to l-o-v-e you!  I hear so many comments from women who say “I love my hair but I hate my thighs!”, “I’m okay with my body but I wish I had straight hair and not curly hair!”, “If only I had her talent!”  We’ve all said something like this!  We’ve all programmed our minds to believe that we have to be the status quo and if not, then we aren’t good enough!  If only we could see ourselves the way that the God of the universe does!!!  Perfect!  More than acceptable!!!  Enough!!!  Flabby thighs, curly hair, red hair, this talent, that talent, doesn’t matter!  Why???  Because HE is the author of US!  He shaped each and everyone of us and His opinion is and should be the only one that matters.  I ask you today, do you know that you ARE GOOD ENOUGH FOR HIM?  BELIEVE IT!  L-O-V-E YOU without boundaries!

Finally, l-o-v-e people not because of something that they might can do for you, not because they married into your family, not because you married into their family, not if they will act a certain way for you, not because they are the same color as you, act as you do, talk as you do, speak the same language as you and are as fortunate as you are…show mercy and kindness and respect and l-o-v-e them because they are God’s children.  L-o-v-e them because He loves you AND He loves them.  L-o-v-e is what makes the world go round and l-o-v-e was pierced with nails and hung on a cross more than 2,000 years ago so that we could L-I-V-E…share His l-o-v-e with someone today.

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
